This piece of glass is the most expensive in my kit but it's also the most used. Excellent images coupled with a versatile zoom range make it ideal for many uses.
It's great for landscapes but I've also used it at concerts to get a photo of the whole band together on stage and for crowd shots. It also brings a new perspective (literally!) to architectural town shots but you will of course get converging verticals. I personally enjoy this effect but it can always be corrected in Photoshop, Lightroom 5 or your software of choice.
It's quite a wide lens physically, but does come with a protective soft case and a petal lens hood.
I use it so often, it remains on one of my two D5200 bodies most of the time.
