Nikon D810
User Reviews and Specs | Submitted by Adam, Jun 26 2014 12:16 AM | Last updated Jun 26 2014 01:51 AM
The Nikon D810 replaces the D800/D800E series as Nikon's high-resolution FX body. The D810 features the same filterless 36.3-megapixel sensor as the D800, but its image processor (EXPEED 4) is 30% faster and less power-hungry that than of its predecessor. This improves the battery life by up to 33% or 300 more frames, for a total of 1200 photos per charge (assuming 50% flash and no live view use).
Key changes for still shooters include a new RAW Size S (12-bit uncompressed file), bigger continuous buffer, higher continuous framerate (5FPS in FX mode, 6FPS in 1.2/DX crop mode, and 7FPS with grip in crop mode), and an expanded ISO range.
The base sensitivity of the D810 is ISO 64-12,800 and 32-51,200 expanded, up from 100-6400/50-25,600 on the D800/D800E.
The D810 has also received many of the same improvements that Nikon added to the D4s earlier this year, including more live view and video-related settings as well as faster autofocus that supports a "group area" AF mode. Videos can now be saved to the memory card while being streamed through HDMI, and the internal mic now records stereo audio.
The list price is the same as that of the D800E at launch: $3299.95.
