Nikon D7100

I've had my D7100 for one week now, I'm very impressed. I upgraded from a D3100, so it's quite a big leap for me. The body is great to handle. Very fast autofocus. I have a 50mm prime attached to it and it's giving some very stunning pictures.

Glad the D7100 is working out for you I've been looking to upgrade also, I know you should'nt but I've been reading loads of reviews. about a good 90% are positive but the other 10% are people saying the auto focus is no good, its of or they have to manually override it to get the sharpness, so i dont wanna buy a camera that cant focus ?

i mainly do portraits for friends and family and have been asked to do the odd wedding. so do you think this camera is going to be a good purchase ?  

Thanks, So far the 7100 has given me some truly great shots. I've had no issues at all with auto focus. I know the 7000 had some issues with certain lenses. But to be honest I can't fault this camera. It's sturdy, great to hold, very user friendly and the controls are well placed.

I think you will be very pleased with the camera if you decide to purchase it. I too looked at all the reviews online. I then decided that I would just go for it. I'm so glad that I did.

I'm upgrading from the D90 which is a fantastic camera, but feel i need a more sharper camera and speed of focus and hoping this will do the job.  i will be using the kit lens for now but also have a prime 35mm 1.8 which is brill and a tamron 70-200 which is ok but would be looking to sell that and hopefully getting a good lens once i can afford to lol

so everything you read then about all the neg comments with speed of focus and focusing is all rubbish and is worth the ££

does it have all the normal ports for pc sync etc or for tethering

I don't outright own a D7100, however, I traded cameras with a close friend - he taking my Pentax K-5, and me his D7100. Needless to say, I'm impressed. The image quality is certainly on par, if not slightly better than my K-5 in certain areas (they share the same sensor) and once you learn the menus, I've found all the settings I could need in a crop-sensor.

The only thing that turns me off, however, is the feel of the body in my hands. In that regard, I definitely prefer the magnesium body of my K-5. Otherwise, I could definitely see myself owning one of these!

I bought this as my first dslr as i had been using my boss's d3200 for 8 months. its a fantastic piece of kit, the autofocus is super fast and the image quality is amazing. i personally use a battery grip with it as i have larger hands so the grip isnt quite big enough for me but with the grip this camera feels like a beast.

Have just ordered my D7100 along with a 35mm F1.8 prime this morning, cant wait to get my hands on it when it is delivered tomorrow. Had a D3100 for about 18 months now so it will be interesting to compare the two.

Having had the D7100 for 17 months now, I'm really happy I made the move from the D3100. I have found my pictures to be better, my  technical skill has increased and i'm now looking at going full frame. I would still keep the 7100 as it's such a fantastic camera to use.
