Three stacked macros, stitched into a panorama.

You won't get a Nikon TC for that lens, for the reasons mentioned above.  Best to go for a 600mm lens if you want that sort of reach.

#41489 Bouquet of flowers

Posted by Fogey on 15 August 2016 - 04:59 PM

I had another bash at this today.

This time I had the aperture closed down from f/4 to f/7.1.

Not the best of conditions with the wind blowing the subject all over the frame, so I'm quite pleased with the result.

The first flower, left of frame, consisted of seven shots throughout its depth. The flower right of frame consisted of nine shots. Each sequence of shots was then stacked resulting in two photographs which were then combined into a panorama.

#40940 Shooting in poor light.

Posted by Fogey on 26 July 2016 - 08:18 AM

I have done a bit with birds at the feeder station and flash. It doesn't seem to phase them for some reason. The camera on manual, 1/200 or 1/250 depending on the body, aperture  and ISO set for about 2 steps under and iTTL flash to freeze the bird's movement and the raindrops.

Thanks for that, Peter.  It's going to rain a bit later on here, so I'll have a practice.

#40898 Shooting in poor light.

It was a day of heavy overcast, poor lighting and constant rain.  I wanted to capture the raindrops falling around the subject.

The light was so poor, at 1/2000th sec with the ISO cranked up to 1250, a grossly underexposed image was returned, even with the exposure compensation set at +5.0.

I had to revert to manual mode and wing it with the light.  This was taken at 1250th sec, ISO 1250, f/5.3.

Not quite what I had in mind, but I'm reasonably pleased with it, considering the conditions.

Excellent.  Catch them young and they'll be caught for life.

#40307 The Bird Feeding station today.

I can't keep up with replenishing the seed.  It's a bit like a aviary at times.

#38623 Baby Spider

Posted by Fogey on 11 May 2016 - 04:07 AM

I went into the shed today, and it appears there has been a load of spiders, newly hatched. There were a plethora of spiders webs throughout the shed.

This little chap was about the size of five - six pin heads.

I couldn't use the tripod through lack of room so the shots were hand held. Eight shots, stacked.

#38466 Hovering Gnat

Posted by Fogey on 07 May 2016 - 01:30 PM

I was sat in the garden enjoying the recent sunshine, when I saw this little fella darting about.

Now I have absolutely no idea what it is, but research indicates it might be a Gnat.
