#281 Introductory Giveaway: Win a D610 or D7100!

Posted by Adam on 29 September 2013 - 12:04 AM

Welcome to Nikon Forums!

As part of our site launch, we are hosting a giveaway featuring a Nikon D610 or a D7100 (your choice*) as a grand prize, sponsored by B&H photo!  We've designed this giveaway so that almost everyone who joins our site has a small chance of winning, but users who are very active in our community will be many times more likely to win.

The giveaway is esentially a very big raffle.  You earn raffle tickets by being active in our community.  After about two months (on December 10th, 2013) we will calculate the number of raffle tickets that each member is entitled to, and the winner will be drawn.  Update as of December 10th: the giveaway has been extended until the end of January (1/31/2014) due to low participation.

ENTER THE GIVEAWAY HERE

The link above will show you all the ways in which you can enter!

The idea behind this setup is that users who regularly come and visit our site will have an increased chance of winning.  Of course, there will be those who actively try to post more in order to increase their chances of winning, but we've set things up so that there's a cap on the number of raffle tickets you can get based on everyday activities such as posting and commenting.  If you want to greatly increase your chances of winning, consider adding some lens/camera reviews, maintaining a personal blog, or submitting a few guest posts to our homepage.

It's clear that while many people will enter the giveaway, only one person will be able to win the grand prize.  However, we'd also like to be able to reward everyone that tried hard in the giveaway.  Therefore, if you are one of the top 5% raffle ticket holders (or top 50, whichever is smaller) at the end of the giveaway, you will receive a premium forum account. We may also give out other prizes along the way, such as t-shirts, gift cards, and other logo gear.

If you end up being our winner, the only thing we ask is that you upload an unboxing video to youtube after receiving your prize, or that you blog about your new camera on our homepage or in a personal blog.

I'd like to wish everyone good luck, and I hope you enjoy the site!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Important: If you have any questions about this giveaway, please DO NOT post them in this thread. >>>>> Use this topic instead <<<<<

-----------------------------------------------------------

*the winner of the giveaway can choose to apply up to a $2000 credit toward any one Nikon camera at B&H.  For instance, if you wanted to get a D800 instead of a D600, you would pay the difference after subtracting $2000 from the selling price.  You are limited to a single camera or kit and you cannot combine multiple products.

Fine print:

  • Giveaway is open to users worldwide
  • No purchase necessary to participate
  • Shipping within the US is included
  • Winners outside of the US will be responsible for duty/customs fees and may need to cover the shipping cost
  • Meaningless posts made solely to increase your raffle ticket count will not be tolerated.  If we become aware of such activity, will be warned or disqualified, at our sole discretion.
  • Limit one forum account per person.  If you create multiple accounts in an attempt to increase your chances of winning, you will be disqualified from the giveaway and banned from future promotions on NikonForums.com.
  • Terms and conditions subject to change

Update: as of 10/8/2013, the grand prize in this giveaway will be a Nikon D610, rather than a D600.
Update: as of 10/11/2013, the number of raffle tickets given for forum posts has been increased

Update: as of 10/14/2013, the giveaway will be managed via a widget on this page.  The terms of the giveaway have not changed
Update: as of 12/9/2013, the giveaway has been extended until 1/31/2014

#2248 Photography...hobby or profession?

Posted by scoobymax on 05 October 2013 - 06:51 AM

Thanks Davem45, any advice is good advice in my eyes! I love wildlife photography so that would be my target group for the future. At the moment I am just looking into the world of photography as a hobby as being a househusband of 4 kids I don't have a great deal of time on my hands! As for the camera itself I'm on a tight budget and am at the lower end of the DSLR scale with my d3100 but hope to upgrade in the future, and who know what might happen. Thank you for your advice. Happy snapping!,

Hi everyone, Lindy from Cairns Australia here.  I love my Nikon......started photography 2 years ago and have only been with Nikon.  My first camera was the D90 and what a great camera it was.  I have since sold it and upgraded to the D600 and the D3s.

I'm a new member, Dan is my name, I've started with a D40 a few years back, learned to shoot in manual,  then the opportunity came along and I got the D7000, needless to say it's a whole different world and I enjoy it. I'm interested in street photography, but have been doing portraiture lately and exploring my camera and it's challenges. Hope to learn and share here, I found this place on Facebook.

#1049 Hi from Andy Lewis

Posted by AndyLewis on 01 October 2013 - 06:10 PM

Hello to all on this forum, I enjoy photography as often as I can, usually outside of my day job though on occasion I have taken it into work. Typically I look for landscapes to capture with some blinding light (that pun was intended). I've been into photography for about two years and used a D3100 for much of that time. Recently however I purchased a D7000 and am thoroughly enjoying it, despite the ergonomic difference causing issues with the muscle memory of my hands. Nothing a little practice wouldn't deal with.

In addition to my photographic enthusiasm I have also recently started a photo blog where I write up my ventures and adventures in search of stunning scenery. Please feel free to read and follow.

#1345 Wow! I love the international crowd!

Posted by nbanjogal on 01 October 2013 - 11:11 PM

Hello from Utah, USA! I love seeing all these posts from the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada...what a remarkable forum. Warm fuzzies for Nikon for bringing us all together.

Nikon D600 shooter here. No niche. I just shoot what interests me.

Is  everyone else up trying to get their 10 posts in? It's bedtime here...

#1407 Good day to you all..

Posted by Picornish on 02 October 2013 - 01:40 AM

Hi, I am Paul, a photographer in the UK, we have both a commercial studio and a wedding business, both doing pretty well though we are like so many always looking for the edge over our competition.

I have been a Nikon user since I was 23, so over 25 years!  Always loved them, will stick with them until something ridiculous happens and they can't keep up!  So far, not been a problem and I don't think it ever will be.

I love the brand and the quality, oh and haven't had any oil specs on my D600... is the upgrade simply a way of cleaning up the factory production line? lol.

Anyone feeling friendly, just say Hi, I don't bite unless asked.
