#4062 Photography...hobby or profession?

Posted by rocknrumble on 15 October 2013 - 05:00 PM

Thanks for the great advice. I've already been shooting Christenings, Birthdays and Weddings for friends. (The Wedding had it's own photographer I was just doing it so they could have photos sooner as waiting for a professional to edit them takes a long time). I plan to keep doing that and see where it goes.

Thanks. I agree about that. I still haven't entirely got my hands around photo editing yet. All I pretty much do is adjust a brightness/contrast. I still haven't worked out how to crop lol.

Here is a shot I took recently that I quite like. What are your thoughts?

I have the Sigma 50-500 and it's a great lens. You can get some great candid shots with it.

I've also ordered a Sigma 150mm lens and a Kenko 2 x converter (I like Prime lenses too) to test out.

I tried to add a photo I took with the Sigma so you can see what it's like but I don't know if it worked.

Ok, I got it, this first photo is a photo of a Dingo I took with the Sigma 50-500

This 2nd one is an action shot taken with the same lens.

#3581 Teleconverter - yes or no?

Posted by rocknrumble on 12 October 2013 - 08:09 AM

I have the Sigma 50-500mm and it's a great lens, well worth the money.

I've also ordered a Kenko 2 x teleconverter (As well as Sigma 150mm macro) which I want to test out.

When the items arrive I'll let you know how it goes with the different lenses.

I also have the Nikon 70-300mm lens so I'll test it with that and take some shots.

Has anyone used a "bean bag" support when shooting. I've been thinking of getting one as quick resort "tripod" to rest on rocks, non-linear items. I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on it. Could I just use those heat "wheat packs" you get at the chemist? Are the camera specific ones a lot better?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
