I agree with everyone else. Very nice work, Urban!

I especially liked the photo of the two elephants but then I'm a sucker for those guys anyway.

Thank you, Ron! I appreciate your kind words. Elephants are amazing animals. I will post some more photos in the next few days.

In July and at the beginning of August I was in Africa visiting Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls). It was a magical trip. Seeing wild animals which I usually see only on TV it made me fall in love with them even more. They are all spectacular! Here are a few images, all taken with Nikon d810 and Tamron 150-600 G2:

#55932 Izola seaside

Posted by bani12 on 24 June 2018 - 02:07 AM

At the beginning of June I was with my friends in Izola, Slovenia. Izola is a small sea town with a gravel shore nearby. Here are two images I captured with my Nikon d810 and 20mm f 1.8 lens.

#54084 Nighttime in Fazana, Croatia

Posted by bani12 on 19 February 2018 - 02:16 PM

Wow, that's really beautiful :)

I was trying to get similar results but i don't know why it's not working

Is the standard 18/55 lens in Nikon D5200 can shot image like this ? or need other lens ?

Thank you, davidlogan.

As Nicole has suggested try looking at Samyang 14mm 2.8 lens if you want something faster and wider. This lens is a good perfomer and quite inexpensive.

Also try to find a dark place to get the best out of the image, as mentioned before by Peter & Nicole. You can check different sites like this.

I also use a mobile app called Stellarium to get information regarding Milky Way position and position of the moon (you would want to have a moonless night).

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want and we will try to help you :)

A few more. Again, all taken with my Nikon d750.

Hverfjall (volcano):

Aldeyjarfoss is approximately 50 kilometers from Godafoss. Gravel road leads you to a small parking lot and then you have to walk for less than 10 minutes and you get to see this:

Awesome. Definitely a bucket list destination.

Thanks, dcbear78!

It was on my bucket list as well. I planned to visit Iceland in 2015 but I injured my ankle just before departure and had to postpone my trip.

Excellent series.

I had Iceland already on my bucket list - with this series it moved up the list.

Thanks, Jerry!

You should visit Iceland soon. It is getting more and more crowded. As I mentioned before if you want to go there during midnight sun season you can take advantage of long periods of sunshine (when there is sunny weather). It is less crowded after 9 PM on many locations and you get better light as well, as it is golden hour(s).

Thank you very much, Ron. I will post more waterfall images soon.

Great shots, what a wonderful experience.

Thank you, deano, it truly was a wonderful experience.

At the end of June I finally visited long awaited destination of Iceland. My girlfriend and I spent 14 days there. It is such a magnificent place to visit and I want to go there some day again. Yes, it is very, very expensive there and more and more tourist visit it, yet you can still enjoy Iceland's beautiful nature in peace, mainly late in the evening (one can take advantage of Iceland's long hours of sunlight during summer time).

Here are a few images from my trip. All images were taken with my Nikon d750.

Maybe you can try light painting the trees while you're at it? It could help you create even more dramatic image and add more details to the foreground.

I hope you get the image before moon rising.

#46737 Editing exercise, week ending Feb. 26 2017

Posted by bani12 on 26 February 2017 - 05:57 AM

I decided to do two variations, one in b&w and one in color. Both were made with the same crop.

1. Here is the b&w version:

I used these settings in Lightroom:

2. Here is the color version:

with these settings applied:

Urban, I tried lightening the foreground, but I couldn't get it to look natural with the post-sunset feel I got in the sky. It is probably doable, but I couldn't help inducing an artificial feeling that way.

I understand, Peter. Thanks for clearing that up :)
