The next set is from the City Library:

SOOC, with the exception of cropping.

I had the 14-24 with me on a little evening stroll.

Some are cropped to 4x5 proportions, all have D2X Mode3 set.

And here I thought all Swedes lived in igloos and ice castles ;).

I love this lens. I have rented it several times and very nearly bought a used version earlier this year. It has dropped on my list of priorities though, since I've been able to get good results for night sky photography with my 24-70. I still hope to get it eventually, but I need a long lens first! (Tamron 70-200 is probably next…but that 150-600 sure looks fun too.)

Then I am stopping.  I swear.   (Famous Last Words).

This made me laugh out loud because I have said it so many times… There's no stopping in photography! (Said in the voice of Tom Hanks in the tone of "There's no crying in baseball!")

I am indeed.  But the 105mm Micro is in the #1 slot right now, then the 14-24mm.

#18988 Basic question on tripods.

Posted by Merco_61 on 13 April 2014 - 01:38 PM

Sturdiness, low resonance, low weight, long life and ease of use.

My current primary tripod is a Gitzo Reporter 4-section I bought in the mid nineties. It is starting to develop some play in some fittings, but it has been in use most days for the last 20 years. My Vanguard is very light, but it needs a bag weighting it down to dampen vibrations in the crucial 1/8 to 2 seconds shutter speeds so it gets left at home when not out with lightweight camping gear. My Sachtler is as sturdy as the ash Berlebach it replaced in the studio, but it is too large folded, so it stays at home too unless I foresee a need for the triple-spiked feet or I need the resonance-dampening construction.

These three sets of tripod legs would cost about $3200 together to replace today but they have more than earned their cost.

My two ladies with my favourite lenses at the moment.
And you're dead right, photography sure is a money pit!

Couldn't resist after the D4s gives such good low light performance with its Expeed 4 processor. And the D810 delivers in bucket fulls, but you know what blows me away the most? The almost quiet shutter. For years I've put up with a loud shutter on the D800e, D4 and D4s, but this thing is so quiet.
More cameras like this please nikon!

That's a great shot from the kit lens. Very sharp and you did a great job on the crop too.just shows what can be achieved with the basic kit. Well done.

I was using just the 18-55 kit lens on my D5200 @ 55mm. f/8 Aperture Priority. -0.67 ev Exposure Comp. EXIF says 0.94ft focus distance. The image is cropped from 24MP to 6.4MP for a better composition, otherwise unedited. Considering how small and fast those little things are, I figure getting that image was 99.5% dumb luck lol

#11672 Don McCullin Interview (British Photographer)

Posted by nbanjogal on 18 December 2013 - 11:18 PM

I couldn't find the photos, but I loved reading the interview--wish I could find the photos!

That last quote from him:

I try to bring into my photography energy and power. I want it to talk to you. I don’t want you to say, ‘Oh that’s nice’ and move on.

Heck yes. That.
