Greetings All:
I was gathering information about purchasing a Nikon 24mm PC-E lens for use with a D800e and a DF body. The Nikon support site did not list those bodies as supporting the PC-E lenses. As I especially need the shift function for architectural photography, I contacted Nikon support for clarification. They first sent me to the page I had already seen, so I contacted them again and tried to pin them down. They sent me this email response:
"The only cameras that fully support the lens are the D3X, D3S, D3. No other camera body has the support except the older DSLR cameras (D2 -series, D1 -series, D200, D100, D80, D70 -series, D60, D50, D40 -series, etc) and even then, they have restrictions."
I was afraid I was going to have to buy Canon in order to use Tilt-Shift lenses. I went on the Nikonians.org site and found a member who uses all three of the PC-E lenses (24mm, 45mm, 85mm) on a D800e with no problems whatsoever.
Plus, I thought one of the big features of the DF was that it could use ANY "F" mount lens ever made!
I'm not sure what is really going on, except that for some reason Nikon (or their attorneys) do not want any liabilities concerning these lenses.
Is there anyone on this forum with any experience with Nikon's PC-E lenses? I would be interested to hear of your experiences with these and any 3rd party tilt-shift lenses on your Nikon bodies.
Thanks,
Bob,
