Vanguard Supreme 46DHard Case

27 April 2014 - 02:24 PM

Having lost 2 lenses to fungus in our old house I am seiously thinking of ordering a Vanguard Supreme 46D hard case to store and protect my equipment. Might be easier, accessing equipment during a project shoot as well?
Has anyone here got any experience with one of those?

Nikon D7000 blowing highlights ...?

11 November 2013 - 04:32 PM

I've recently acquired a Nikon D7000 and am very surprised that the camera generally seems to blow highlights. Is there a trick other than generally dialling in a negative exposure compensation value?

I had a Pentax K-5 before which generally preserved all the highlights. Any suggestions???

Thanks.

70-200 f/2.8 VR II + EXT or 80-400 f/4.5-5.6 VR I

21 October 2013 - 05:32 AM

I was thinking of extending my zoom range toward 400mm and am in two minds about what to get. I was thinking of a 2x Extender for the 70-200mm but read somewhere, the picture quality is not that great with it. On the other hand the 80-400mm is a nice lens but also very big and heavy and a big overlap with the 70-200mm. Not sure I would use the 70-200 that much any more unless the picture quality is much better?

The question here is: is the image quality of the 80-400mm (VR I) better than the 70-200mm (VR II) with an extender?

Thanks.

AF Settings for D7000

05 October 2013 - 02:20 PM

Hi folks,

I have recently switched from a Pentax K5 to a Nikon D7000. The manual is fairly comprehensive, however, the AF settings are still somewhat confusing for me. I find myself trying various settings for the same shots and sometimes get a result and sometimes I don't (not in focus anyway). I used my kids on scooters coming towards me with a 70-200 2.8 VR II and S mode with 1/320 sec.

Are there some experienced Nikon users who could advice, when to use what setting? Birds, running kids, surfers, street, bike racing, 3D tracking ..... Never had to think about stuff like that with my K5 ... ;)

Need to get my head around it as it really slows me down at the moment

Thanks.

Say Hello

26 September 2013 - 01:02 AM

Hi guys,

I recently bought a D7000 with some lenses. I also got a K-5 - how much longer for I don't know ;-) - and found my way here via the Pentax Forum.

A great idea and looking forward to an ever growing forum :)
