Well, I can't seem to pull the trigger on $600 for a 3 filter setup through Lee when there is a couple of lenses I still want. Probably going with cokin p series so I get used to square filters.

I have one for my camcorder that I put on my front window as sort of a dash cam. But you are right in having to turn the truck off for stills, and then I might as well get out and shoot.

#21715 Howdy from the road.

I figured since I was already getting some great info from here, I should stop in and formally introduce myself.

For those who haven't read my other threads... I drive a big truck across the US. I see fantastic photo ops almost on a daily basis. Now I can't always stop to take pics, but I do get the chance at times.

I've had my d3200 for a couple years now, but haven't really dedicated the time or money into it that I am now. I'm hoping to get enough knowledge and skill to at least go semi pro and make some money with it. In addition to the 28-55 kit lens, I recently purchased the tameron 70-300.

Really excited about what's to come! Also I should mention that I take constructive criticism very well; )

Great pic. I've yet to try any macro photography, this makes me want to.

Probably took a thousand shots that day, and this is my favorite. Wish i would of had a faster lens to use different settings so it wouldn't of been so grainy. Looking at the folder now, it was well over a thousand shots.

#21612 Coffee time

This pic has special meaning to me which is why I like it so much. I took this a few days after my grandfather passed away at 92. We used to sit and drink coffee together, his cup on the right, mine on the left. It will probably always be my favorite pic.

Well, my trip to Hunt's was both good and bad. I did get the lens I was after, but he didn't have the filters I wanted. I needed a quick release for my tripod, didn't have that. I had to point out to him that the lens was only 449 on the website, because he was going to charge me 500. I'd called him prior to make sure he had the lens, and he'd set it out for me with a UV filter. This part is on my for not checking, but he sold me an HD UV lens which was 45 bucks, vs just a normal one that would of done the same job. I didn't realize it till I was an hour down the road and getting loaded, where I could get things out of the bag. So, while I did get the main thing I went after, the rest was disappointing. It did have a huge parking lot close by to park my truck at though.

I think I'll order filters from B&H once I can anticipate where I'll be at some point. I'm headed to Missouri tomorrow, for Monday. We'll see what I can find before then. Rainy here so didn't want to get out and play with the new lens, but maybe I can get some shots in this weekend. I'll actually be in Buffalo tomorrow, perhaps I'll try to get over to Niagra Falls. That sounds like a grand idea.

So, as soon as I get unloaded, I'm headed to a hunts photo in Massachusetts. I plan on picking up the tameron 70-300.

I've done some reading online, but not enough to get a good feel for what I might need filter wise. I want to get a graduated ND for sunsets, but beyond that, I'm clueless.

For those that haven't read my other post about lens advice...

I drive a truck across the US, which gives me some fantastic opportunities for photos. So mostly it's landscapes, nature and wildlife, cityscapes, my dog!, sunrises and sunsets, etc. I have a D3200 with currently only the kit 18-55, but as mentioned, picking up a 70-300 today. I do have a tripod if that matters.

And there is my dilemma. I want to shoot too many different subjects that have different optimal lenses. I keep watching craigslist and the used side of camera shops hoping to find a bargain so I can buy more. No luck yet.

I wouldn't want to rush any trip to B&H. LOL

Yea that crossed my mind as well.

So I've been trying to find a camera shop I could get close enough to. I'm delivering today in new Jersey and will be driving less than 10 miles from B&H. However I won't get to my stop till about 4:30pm, even if they unload me quick, I'd gave to fight 5 o'clock traffic, find a place to park on I 95, then get a cab to get there before 7pm when they close. Don't figure that's gonna happen lol.

I just really hate the whole rebate system lol. I have an $80 rebate for my gps I still haven't sent in. Just sell it to me for a hundred bucks less and be done with it. I think they bet on people not sending them in.
