#5250 Painshop Pro - Layering

Posted by Erewego on 21 October 2013 - 05:28 PM

And like you have mentioned google is great there are literally hundreds of tutorials for photoshop/paintshop for anything you can think of.

Yeah - I'm living through a lot of those right now (some good, some bad), but it's a worthwhile thing to do.

The owner asked if I could check the oil while I was down there lol:

I always take a few car pics from this sort of angle - it makes even 'ordinary cars' look dramatic, probably because we nearly always see them from the same sort of height. I don't know why car ad's don't make more use of this effect ........

#3201 Focus bracketing

Nice Pic.  I don't have a dedicated Macro lens yet but was wondering if anyone has any joy with close up filters instead of a dedicated lens?

I used to use them with 35mm (when on a budget) and also more recently with a bridge - both were pretty good but limited in scope, but they work and they're cheap. I'm toying with the idea of a prime / macro as my next purchase ........

I was googling light-painted images to see what others have been doing (looking for tips and inspiration) and found these:

#2243 SD Cards: Which ones do you like?

Posted by Erewego on 05 October 2013 - 04:44 AM

I'm currently using a PNY 16Gb card and its great so far - only slows down when taking really long bulb pics.

They are very cheap too (in the UK).

#1524 FYI-Rechargable Batteries for Speedlights

Posted by Erewego on 02 October 2013 - 10:19 AM

I have only recently purchased an SB-800 and just to start using it straight away, used IKEA disposables - I cannot believe how many times I have used these (first set still !) and recycle time is still good. At £1 for a pack of 10, they have got to be a good back-up.

Longer term though, rechargeables have to go in (keep a pack of IKEA in the bag for emergencies) and will probably go for eneloops as that seems the consensus 'good buy'.

Thanks all.
