I have a large box full of slides...all I used to shoot. For enlargements always had them done direct for best quality. 

 

Nothing digital, that I have seen, looks better that a slide projected on a large screen.

I used to have a Canon (can't remember which one.. 3mp) that was small enough to put in my pocket. I good light is took great picks but low light was not good.

 

I find my D40 is small enough for me now.

So far, for me it, would be the 35mm 1.8. Great lens and I can zoom (within reason) with my feet.
