The battery shows up (fully charged) and in the battery menu, it show both batteries fully charged. Just odd that it will run off of the grip but not full fps.

The top display does say BP (when EN-EL 4a installed)

 

Both batteries were fully charged and installed separately...they both work fine.

They say that it indeed does mount to the zoom/focus ring. So you can only use it in AF, and I guess you have to push and pull the camera to zoom it....interesting.
