I just use the Adobe Camera Raw noise reduction.

#44037 Experiences and lessons........

Crikey Thumper! Some people just can't appreciate a favour.

I'm doing a few for my company website, no hassle so far, all in company time, so all good.

#43342 Nikon D750 and 70-200 2.8 Hockey Pics grainy/focus issues

Posted by Russ on 16 November 2016 - 05:35 PM

That 2nd shot looks fine to me for a sports shot.

1/400 is quite slow though, I would've thought for ice hockey at least, say, 1/800.

I use my 750 at 6400 and am quite happy, just a little noise reduction in camera raw.

Pretty sure my D500 doesn't have it. Image comment is a text based thing.

#41967 Help with filmography with my Nikon D7000

Posted by Russ on 08 September 2016 - 06:15 PM

Getting rid of the smog might help!

The stuff in the foreground looks okay, so the fuzzy stuff in the background is either focus (which you say is fine) or haze/heat distortion.

#41940 can't access all photos on SD card

Posted by Russ on 07 September 2016 - 06:35 PM

Maybe a fake card? Says it's 4GB but only really 2GB or similar.

#41939 change white balance DURING shutter time

Shoot in raw, make a few copies, adjust the wb of each in your editor.

#41686 From New Zealand

Hey Tara - New Zealand, where's that? ;)

I seem to remember at least 1 other Kiwi here, so at least some of us speak the same language/

#41467 2016 Super rugby final

Posted by Russ on 14 August 2016 - 06:46 PM

Great photos!!

But how about the 7's in the Olympics?

Sorry... Sorry I know that is probably cruel for you kiwis  :P

Depends who you talk to.
7s isn't "real" rugby, it's sort of an interesting by-product, and we do lose that frequently enough already so no big shock there. And we were by no means favourites.

Great set!!   Those are all great captures.   And you did that in the rain, no less.

Why was the Lions player penalized in #13?  (I am unfamiliar with the rules).

Thanks Thumper, yeah as already said, can't tackle a player in the air.

Nice shots Russ!!!  Looking forward to shooting more rugby this fall...

Thanks. The rain adds appeal to it, but only once you're home and into dry clothes!

Nice shots Russ.

How about that Fiji team taking the Gold in the Olympics?  They all look like starting linebackers for any NFL team.

Once NZ lost most of NZ was cheering for Fiji. Their first Olympic medal ever.

lol Jarryd Hayne left the 49ers to "pursue his Olympic dream," and tryout for the Fiji 7's team (Previously played Rugby League for Australia but has Fijian heritage). Didn't make it in the team so went back to a multimillion dollar deal back in his original sport Rugby League in Australia. Was only because he couldn't crack the starting team in SF.

Ah yes the Hayne Plane. Oh well, at least he gave it a go I suppose.

Cool. Love the backdrop.

#40450 Accidental multiple exposure...possible to fix?

Posted by Russ on 07 July 2016 - 06:35 PM

I doubt any raw file can be a double exposure, was the final one a jpeg? If so you can't separate out the jpeg, but maybe each raw files is there?

But maybe I'm wrong!

#40262 Uhmmmm. Excuse Me?

Posted by Russ on 30 June 2016 - 06:30 PM

Every time the Olympics is on I get less and less interested. Don't really watch much of it. There's so many "sports" in there that don't belong and it long ago departed from its noble intentions.

#39964 First game with my D500

Posted by Russ on 21 June 2016 - 06:28 PM

Cheers guys.

I only use the one camera for a game, but I'm no pro. I take a (also new) Tokina 12-28/f4 with me for shots before or after the game. It's all I need with the Sigma 120-300.
