z5 - Battery Issues

07 June 2021 - 09:25 AM

Need to know your experience with battery life on the z5.

I have turned off every thing I know of to extend the life of the battery.

I'm only using the view finder, the replay after shot is turned off.  The wireless, blue tooth and airplane mode  are off.

Yesterday I shot 124 pictures and the battery usage life is at 45%.  Is this typical?  Not much life if I'm shooting family or events.

This was at a Classic Car show that happened to be nearby and thought it would be a chance to use it with those setting off.  I was there for about 30 minuets and shot about  110 photos.  The other 12 were shot at a Botanical garden.

By the way, the EN-EL15 was just as poor.  During my initial use of the camera, at an event at my gym,  the C battery only lasted about 90 min.

I've searched every where on the internet to try and figure this out.  Also referred to Dave Busch's Z5 comprehensive guide book  (I swear by them)

I am very pleased with this camera and am disappointed with the battery problem.  (I've attached a photo from the Car show)

Appreciate any help.  I've attached screen shots of the back of the camera.  If any other menu setting is necessary please advise, dig deeper and sent them along.

Backbutton set up Z5

29 May 2021 - 11:16 AM

I just purchased the z5 and am have difficulty setting up BBF.

After an extensive search the only BBF tutorials I could find pertain to the 6and7 models and am assuming it's the same process.

The steps I am using are:

A7 Activation is OFF

A1 and A2 are set as release

F2 AE button is selected

On my D750 the shutter button is completely disabled and will work after the BBF has been pressed.

I find on the z5 the shutter button can still be pushed 1/2 way down without actually focusing.

Is this they way the shutter is supposed to operate?

Thank you.
