High Speed sync with Pixapro citi600

16 April 2021 - 05:10 AM

Hi Chaps

Firstly hello from a new member. I use a Nikon D500 and have pretty much used Nikon all through my Photography career but occassionally I wander on the Leica side..sorry!

Anyway. I recently bought the Pixapro citi600 manual flash light and the transmitter STIII for on location work, its nice not to have trailing leads etc.

I'm having trouble with the high speed sync. I have gone into the D500 flash settings and selected 1/250 s (auto FP). On the Citipro 600 I'm in manual and have selected half power as a starting point. I want to use a shallow depth of field at 2.8 and in bright conditions I'm dialing in 1250 as a shutter speed. I have selected high speed sync on the flash but it does not seem to make any difference to the exposure of the shot? I put the flash behind the model and I can see the flash operating so I now that the flash is operating even at 1250 but when I bring the flash back round to the front for fill in flash it doesn't seem to make any difference? I can see no zoom facility on the flash so I don't think its that? I have used it without a softbox and with a softbox again no difference in exposure. A fellow tog I know shoots with a citipro 600 with his Canon wide open at F2 and 8000 flash speed and he get's amazing results so I'm confused or I'm being totally stupid?

Any thoughts?

Cheers
