SnapBridge iPhone Bluetooth Pairing Issue

18 May 2020 - 02:56 PM

I have been using the Nikon SnapBridge app on an iPhone5 with a D850 for over a year, primarily to get GPS location data to the camera from the iPhone. The app has been reliable in establishing a Bluetooth link to the camera.  However, I accidentally 'fat fingered' the camera menu and unintentionally deleted the iPhone from the list of paired devices.  I have not been able to recover and re-pair the iPhone app with the camera.

Things that I've tried:

Removed the D850 camera from the list of Bluetooth devices on the iPhone Bluetooth menu.

Reset the iPhone and the camera several times.

Deleted the SnapBidge app and downloaded a fresh version.

The D850 camera successfully connects with other iOS devices running SnapBridge, (an iPadPro and an iPhone6).

The iPhone5 successfully pairs and connects with other Bluetooth devices other than the camera, for example speakers.

Apparently SnabBridge manages the iPhone Bluetooth pairing through the app. With the camera 'ON' and 'START Connect to smart device' selected in the camera menu, the iPhone SnapBridge app stalls with the message 'Connect to camera' and the spinning pinwheel.

It has been suggested elsewhere to delete the D850 from the list of cameras in SnapBridge app, however the SnapBridge app appears to be locked up with the message 'Connect to camera'  with a spinning pinwheel below.  I am unable to select any menu items on the SnapBridge app it seems to be stuck on attempting to pair.  Tapping the gear icon at the top right or the file drawer icon at the upper left does nothing.

Also there is no sign of the camera Bluetooth connection on the iPhone settings menu. It appears that the SnapBridge app can no longer trigger the iPhone Bluetooth pairing.

I have been using SnapBridge with this iPhone for over a year, the app isn't perfect but it always paired and connected with Bluetooth.

Thanks in advance
