#77442 Woody scene

Posted by krag96 on 09 February 2022 - 01:19 PM

Thank you!

Couldn't get a nice sharp star with this lens - AFs 24-85 G VR.

I'll try with some of the older ones next time.

If you have a non-G lens look for the square blades and give it a try.  You should get 18 points of light emitting from the sun.  No ghosts or artifacts in your shot is good!  If you get them, no problem, just try a different angle or shade the lens with your hand above it, (that's where a tripod comes in handy, or someone to shade it for you).

Fantastic!  Looks like you've gotten an eye for it already.

Sun rise + an hour or so and sun set - the same are the best times to shoot with a variety of foregrounds, trees, clouds, shorelines, bridges, buildings, people, almost anything really.  It does require a lot of experimenting and trying different angles to get things right and a lot of shots should be taken on a tripod so you can use a hand or something as an extended lens shade when needed.  Over all it's a fun yet challenging genre that can add a little something special to some of your shots, remember though, it's easier to fix your under exposed areas while nearly impossible to fix the blown out highlights.

I had forgotten about the flying cars, but remember, (now that you mention it) they were supposed to be in the near future from the later 1950's.  Can you imagine atomic powered cars dropping from the sky after a fender bender?

I have a lot of admiration for the original Pentax K-1. It looks to be a real tool I could get used to quickly rather than a ''cam-puter''.  I handled a Pentax MLU 6x7 SLR in the 90's...What a beast!

For the most part I like digital, though there's things I miss from film too.  I see mirrorless cameras, no matter what brand as being currently in their ''toddler'' stage at best.  The tech junkies will be chasing the latest and greatest every few years just to keep up while the technology grows.  I suppose they have a lot going for them, though battery life certainly isn't one of them.  Other than the Z fc they look cheap...like a Sony missing the buttons, dials, and controls I've come to like with the Nikon DSLR's.

Right Ron, they can be had with the newer lenses, some say they're ''softer'' but Peter got some last year that are very good and sharp in my opinion.

At this point in my life, (over 65) I doubt I'll follow the mirrorless revolution.

Big Bird

I'm not much of a bird shooter, (unless it's with a gun for the pot) but this guy is impressive.

Perhaps a slightly different angle on the church?  Some times depending on the lens, I like to get a partial sun in a scene for the wonderful star it makes.  Anyway, that's a nice set.

I hope Nikon does not discontinue making DSLR cameras anytime in the foreseeable future, and long live the F-mount.  I'm hoping Nikon will make several more generations of DSLR cameras.

I hope Nikon doesn't follow Canon and produce nothing but mirrorless in the future, but I agree with Dogbytes, grab a D850 while you can if you think you want one.

It's too cold and windy to venture outside for long.  I copied a few photos taken with my old film camera, Canon F1n with my D700.
