I use a release quite often on my Rollei TLR f3.5 f.

I don't use the Wein 1.35 mercury replacement batteries in any Nikon, but in my Leica light meters. Remember these are air activated. In general use, again in light meters, life expectancy is a few months at best.

Dave if your 50mm f/1.2 serial number starts with 414xxx is one AI-S last version not the older AI, you can check in this link.

Now I am looking for one 50mm f/1.2 AI and this theme is a bit touchy for me.

Another obvious difference, orange 16 in the AI-s version, blue in the AI one.

AI version:

AI-S version :

Thanks for clarifying that question. I’ll guess it has to be one of the last out of the factory. Found it on eBay.

They are both good choices as favourite lenses.
What versions/revisions are they?
Is the 50/1.2 Ai or Ais?
Is the micronikkor pre- or post 2005? From 2006 onwards, it got a more modern, synthetic grease that doesn't break down and gum up the aperture with age. These serials start at 800001. There might have been a running change from as early as 700001, but this is a point the Nikon historians love to debate.

. The 50 f1.2 is AI 414xxx, the 55 is a super smooth AIS 289xxx. Used on an FE2, and a FM2n. I use Braczko’s Complete Nikon System 2000 for serial reference.

I hate to say it, but no. The commercial world of photography is wedded to digital. The vast amount of money invested in digital production tells you no, to analog photography. The climate fearmongers, particularly in the US will cry, your analog chemicals will destroy the planet. Japan doesn’t seem to have a problem.
