Well I got myself a card reader and it seems to have solved the problem, all seems to be ok now. Thanks to all that offered advice, I'm very grateful. :)

Hi Merco_61, thanks for your reply, the camera is set to mass storage but it does not let the computer upload the pictures. I have a slot in both my desktop and laptop for the SD cards but it still doesn't work when I insert the card.
