D7200 | problems with AF

23 October 2019 - 02:21 AM

Hi there

I'm having a hard time with my D7200. I never had problems for the last 4+ years but now since about two weeks the camera suddenly doesn't properly auto focus any more. Depending on the subject I like to focus on, it sometimes works and sometimes not (camera goes through the whole spectrum and stops in a position with no focus at all). I never really had this problem before that I picked on object / point to focus on which gave me a hard time. Please find attached a picture where I marked the points on which I can focus (green) and the once which don't work (red). In my opinion also the red points should have enough contrast so that AF should work, or what do you think? I also realized that if I choose a single focus point at the edges (not the center part) I even had some problems with the green marked spots!

First I thought the lense (Nikon 18-105) is the problem since I had previously some problems with the build in AF motor (I disassembled the lense and loosen the motor a bit and it worked all well afterwards), but I have the exact same problem with my Nikon 70-300 and Tamron 17-50 lens!

I already cleaned the electrical contacts and I already blew off the AF sensor slightly with a bellows.

Saidly nothing helped so far! Does anyone have some ideas?

Thanks a heap for your support and best wishes

Yves

(The Nikon support couldn't really help since the only advice was to send in the camera that they can have a look and adjust the sensor | I'm until december in Sumatra so unfortunately there is no Nikon sales point or what so ever)
