Lightroom Mobile App

28 August 2019 - 03:57 PM

Wasn't sure where to put this topic.

I heard that Adobe Lightroom for Android was totally free. Downloaded it and began selecting files for editing (very slow process by the way). I opened one of my RAW images and chose an editing tool.

But wait!

That immediately takes you to a window with UPGRADE NOW at the bottom of the screen. Click there and it asks you to add a payment method. So much for a free app.

Yeah I know... this is Adobe, but the whole thing seems like a scam, You can load and edit JPEG files for free, but when you go to save your edits, that process is also extremely slow. My other mobile editing apps load, edit and save images in a snap.

Kit Lenses... When Did They First Appear?

26 August 2019 - 07:18 AM

Just curious when camera companies started making kit lenses. They often get a bad rap--some good, some not.

When I bought my Nikon F2 back in the day, you always purchased a camera body and lens separately. Maybe a store would bundle a 50mm lens with a camera but that was it.

Nikon 18-140mm Lens Opinions

19 August 2019 - 05:30 AM

A local photographer is selling a Nikon 18-140mm zoom. Apparently in excellent condition and at a good price. I'm assuming it came with a kit. I've read mixed reviews online about this lens--apparently not super sharp.

Anyone have one? Photo samples?

Critiquing your own photographs

05 August 2019 - 07:30 AM

It's important as photographers that we show our best work. Let's use the various tools available to us for straightening crooked horizons, cropping out unwanted and/or distracting subjects, sharpening, adjusting white balance, and giving our photographs some "pop."

I've watched excellent tutorials by professional photographers around the world who share their editing secrets. We don't have to run out and buy PhotoShop or Lightroom though... there are many free programs and smartphone apps that will do the job!

Pancake Lens

26 July 2019 - 05:52 AM

A friend of mine just bought a used pancake lens for his D7200. He was wondering... does he have to use genuine maple syrup with it or will Mrs. Butterworth's be OK?
