You have to set a6, c1 and f1 to separate the af from the shutter button and lock the exposure value on shutter half-press.

 

  1. Set a6 to AF-ON only.
  2. Set c1 to ON On (half-press).
  3. Set f1 to AF-ON for the AE-L/AF-L button.

In addition to locking the exposure value, a shutter button half-press activates the VR when using VR lenses and wakes the camera from stand-by.
