Kookaburra

30 December 2018 - 03:19 PM

This Kookaburra gave me the run around.

It started being really close to where I stopped. I got the camera out took a few shots and while doing so it flew off.

So that was a waste of a little bit of time. It then went on to the grass but was quickly chased off by a couple of Magpies.

From there back over my head to a tree and it was really high up in the tree.

So it was more hope that I was getting a shot of it as it was hurting my neck being so bent backwards.

I hope these are okay.

Bridge Camera's

28 December 2018 - 07:15 PM

Up until recently I owned a Sony A77ii and my life in the photography world has been only Sony.

I started with the Sony A390 and it to me was a great camera but I felt I grew out of it.

The next move was to the Sony A77 and this one I used it until it said I could not use it any longer.

I have been told that a board can be replaced in it to make it work again, but I'm not worried about it.

My next and final move was to the Sony A77ii the best camera I have owned.

The reason to sty with Sony was my lens I had and to move away was going to cost way too much.

Not that long ago I went out to take a few photo's and I slipped and I had the Tamron 150/600mm on the camera.

This took the lot of pressure of the fall and I took a shot to see if the crack was going to affect the shot.

But sadly the fall rendered the lens no good.

We claimed it on our insurance and within 9 days the money was in our bank.

My wife said I should try the Nikon P900 as friends had them and like them a lot.

I had a look and I decided to get that camera as I would not need the large lens with this.

Over time the new camera because it was so easy to carry around was the go to camera.

I took my Granddaughter out and I used the the Sony and she got the Nikon due to the sensor factor.

We got home and I looked at the shot she had taken and they were quite good and I only gave her a quick run down on it.

It made me think about the P900 more and more and I thin knew about the even bugger zoom of the P1000.

I took a few shots of the Sony with all I had with it and posted it on a place called Market Place that is attached to your facebook page.

I had one little tickle but nothing that lead anywhere. So I took it off and had a rethink for a could of weeks.

Then I thought of eBay and I had the photos and I placed it on there.

Within a day I got one stupid offer of $1000 Australian. My reply was the camera lone is worth more.

A day or so later I got a notice that it was bought and for the full price of $1750 plus postage.

I knew it was going to cost more that that was shown so this is why I had the extra $50.00 to it.

The very next day we went to the post office and posted it off to the new owner.

Now I was a dSLR camera down and I have been researching the P1000 and seeing how well is shapes up to other cameras.

To me it again is the small sensor, but if you are not selling then this is be no worries.

Some of the shots I have taken with the P900 are as good to me as the Sony, but maybe in printing it might be different.

So now after the research I need to spend more money to closer to the Sony.

There are a few things where I will lose out and I am will for that to happen.

But now I need the money to clear and I will have the Nikon P1000 and my wife has said she might have a go at this.

So to me this is a win. Though I do doubt that she will get rightinto this hobby as I am, but to start I think its good

Nankeen Kestrel

Taken with the Nikon P900.

This is the same bird as I found out too late that it was, as the other one came along and this is why in the last shot it is that way it is.

They are not too far from home so with this camera I have with me most of the time and I can get these shots.Attached File  DSCN5861.jpg   159.42KB   66 downloads

Sony A77ii

26 December 2018 - 03:04 AM

I have only just sold this camera with the lens I used.

There was nothing wrong with the camera but as we get older and arthritis gets a hold it becomes harder to carry it all with you.

The camera itself produced many good shots out of it.

And when it came to the point that I had a fall and I broke my big lens I was down to the lens that had not too far of a reach.

The Sony was hard to get here in Australia and with all the searches I done worked out that I had to but it from America.

And when it came I was so happy but now I am slowed right down and it make it hard to carry al lens for that just right time.

Made it hard to justify for me anyway having it.

But if I was about to take up this hobby I would look for one that has what the Sony did.

When I started I got the A390 and followed by the A77 then this camera.

Each one you had to go through a refresher course to understand it.

And now I have got a Nikon and that will soon be 2 Nikons.

G'Day everyone

26 December 2018 - 01:38 AM

Thanks for allowing me in to your forum.

Up until a couple of days ago I was using 2 cameras.

One was a Sony A77ii and the other is my Nikon P900.

I have just sold my Sony camera as I have a few health issue's  and all to do with mobility.

So it just made more sense to me to stay with the P900 as I don't need to carry extra lens to suit what I am doing.

I am still learning it but being honest its a camera that does make you lazy.

As with the Sony I was in manual close on all the time.

But I got this and set it to scene and that its.

I know I have lost megapixels but I never set out to sell shots.

So I am more than happy with what I get out of the camera now.

With the money from the sale of the Sony I am going to get the Nikon P1000.

My wife will then start to use the older one.

I did really enjoy macro but since I have got really slow I have swapped over to birds.

But anything that I don't have to bend over to get is always on the radar.

Both taken with the P900 last night
