Coolpix P1000 wanting to format card in the middle of shooting

I'll be in the middle of shooting and will get the message "Do you want to format your card?" Yes or No.  I am using SanDisk Extreme Pro 128 GB cards. Each time this has happened is just after inserting the card, formatting, and taking about 10-20 shots. I have to turn the camera off, take out the card, re-insert, and then start shooting again. Is this faulty cards?  I have updated to the latest Firmware version 1.5  This problem just started in November and I have been using the cards since last summer.


Camera swivels downward when in portrait mode on quick release plate

I have Coolpix P1000 mounted on a Neewer Alluminum Alloy Quick Release plate, 4.5 inches long that runs under the lens. No matter what quick release plate I use - Manfrotto, BlackRapid, ArcaSwiss, when I shift the camera over 90 degrees to portrait mode the camera rotates downward. Any suggestions?
