#62484 Hello

Posted by DavidWell on 27 May 2019 - 08:51 AM

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and was advised to say hello.

I got my first digital SLR about two years ago - D3400.

I used to take a lot of photos with a 35mm (film).

I'm just an amateur.

I like all kinds of photography - art (Edward Weston, Robert Frank,... many others), photojournalism, nature, and just "snapshots" (even from instamatics).

I'll have questions on lenses and later on possibly upgrading to another camera.

I'll spend more time browsing the forum before asking.

It looks like a lot of knowledgeable people post here.

#62518 Hi!

Hello! Fellow noob here. I found this forum originally because I’ve already managed to break my less than 1 month old camera (well my 7 year old did). But whatever. In the process of determining the best route to fix it and I’ll be back in business soon.

I currently have a d3500 and am loving it so far I know it’s entry level, but it’s still def better than my iPhone! The main thing that fueled me wanting a camera was to be able to take pictures of my kids in sports (I have one in gymnastics and one in softball). I only have the basic lens and the 70-300mm lens...that one has been my favorite. I’m still learning the ropes...a lot...but I have at least gotten as far as to understand the relationship between all of the three major settings and light. Now Im really just trying to figure out the camera in general and how to manipulate the settings to get what i want. Of course, I’ll be able to do that once my camera is working again. Sigh.

In addition to the action shots, I really like nature (anything from little bugs to big mountains!) and i travel a fair amount with family and friends so I’d love to capture better photos of our time in other states and countries.

Anywho, looking forward to expanding my knowledge!

To get reliable off-camera flash outdoors, you need to go to radio remotes. IR signals will be washed out by the sun.

That's a great big collection.

Thanks. I wish my wife would feel the same about my cameras.

How do you store and display all your Nikon gear, when one are a serious collector. Hope that someone do have some pictures with some bright ideas how to place the cameras, so they are presented in a good way. Looking forward to see some example from other Nikon collectors.12230f538e8a6b0c0717277b761c1ac7.jpg720776d684aa6d99ba6def475c40afab.jpg7d24c00bececcf2e9d93da47896afa89.jpg9ac5c0ac28d3a8af319236aef84cc4c3.jpg
