#76693 Updating firmware

Posted by Johnb on 14 January 2022 - 10:13 AM

Like Merco says, I usually remove the XQD card then just use the SD card in the card reader and camera. I always reformat the SD card before using it to make sure it is completely empty.  Replace XQD card once update has completed.

Also, when updating firmware, make sure your camera battery is min 80% full, else the update wont happen. I spent 1/2 a day trying to update before finding out that the camera wont do this on a low battery.

OK guys,  I have a better understanding now.

Re RAW files, ar'nt these files massive and limit your storage space. I understand that you get so much more detail, but thought you would only use RAW if you were going to enlarge your photo, say to poster size.

Also capturing what your eye sees cant really happen can it. The only thing in focus is what you are looking at, and in 3D, whilst everything peripheral is just a blurr.

#71704 Photo Editing

Hi Guys, something I have been wondering about,

I spend thousands on a decent camera and lenses, why should I need to go to an online program to improve the results of my photo.

About 15 years ago I bought an olympus digital camera which I use to edit the photos but I paid £250 for it. Not £5000+ (Camera and lens)

Yea cropping a photo I can understand but anything else, well you have to wonder why you paid all this money out for state of the art equipment, when you can edit the results from a camera costing a twentieth of the price, and get the same results.

OK so I may be missing something here.

Just to say that I have not tried to edit any of my photos as yet so dont know the ins-and-outs.

Am I missing something ?????

Yep you are right, that is what I was thinking. It is all starting to make sense now.

Cheers Jerry.

#61848 Aperture Priority

Thanks Dogbytes.

It seems then I am totally missing the point.

I thought that if the lens was f2.8, that is what it was. It could not be changed. Ie for what ever the lighting condition, the camera would set the Shutter speed to suit the f2.8 aperture, and that was that.

That's basically why I bought the f2.8 over the f4 to get that little bit more usage in lower light situations. At double the price !!!!!!!

Yea, and I do see that you still have control over all the other attributes.

Thanks guys. I am getting there slowly.

Not just a photographer, but a guitarist and a craftsman as well. That I would say was multi talented, I think Duncan pickups are good ones.

#55477 Hello from the south of UK

Posted by Johnb on 16 May 2018 - 03:35 PM

Hi Ya, I'm John from Bucks in the UK just saying hello. Just got back to this Photography thing after about 40 years, back when you had to stuff celluloid strips into the camera, cross fingers, point and hope. In the mean time played drums in bands for 30 years but no stamina anymore, and clay shooting was good till my back told me it was time to quit so that's it really. Back to the camera then. I will be needing loads of help cause everything has changed a bit. Cheers
