Interval timer shooting

05 January 2022 - 11:17 AM

I shoot meteor showers - occasionally I actually capture a meteor!

D5100 set up for interval timer shooting; 30 second intervals, 30 second exposures, 25 shots.  It starts fine, but never finishes the series, usually stops after 6-12 shots.  New Nikon battery, fully charged.  Class 10 card, so write speed should not be a problem.  This has drive me crazy for several years.\

Also have a D300 and it works perfectly; I set both up looking at different parts of the sky.

It would be nice to be able to get back in the car where its warm and let the cameras do their thing, as it gets veeeery boring after the first few hours in the middle of the night, as well as cold. Note that the same thing happens indoors when its warm.

Anyone have any ideas or advice?
