#10794 Nikon Df initial shutter count

Posted by scoobymax on 04 December 2013 - 01:53 PM

Ye my new camera had a shutter count of about 100! The thing with nikon is they do such rigorous testing of their products that sometimes the shutter count can be quite high! Don't panic!! Most nikon s have a max shutter counter of 150000+ before the shutter assembly "wears out" and may need replacing but this is just a base number, I've seen shutters with 200000+ counts and still going strong!

I've been a member for about 4 months now and it's pretty good. There are plenty of free contests to enter for small prizes and recognition but if you want to win serious stuff you have to pay to enter them or be a paying member of the site. It's well worth checking out though

#9468 printer

I'm with Tony on this one, if I was to print out more of my images I would invest in a very decent printer as colour reproduction is never perfect unless you spend silly money! My printer is great for everyday pictures and the cost of ink is less than £15 for colour and B&W, but for the cost of professional printing nowadays, for now at least I will send mine off to be printed professionally.

Completely home crafted 4.5ghz AMD over clocked, 16Gb ddr4, Ati Radeon HD with 2gb internal also over clocked, several sata drives, and a 32inch LCD TV as my monitor....sweet as f@@&! :) does everything I need apart from launch a space shuttle. LOL!

#8700 Camera Clubs - What do you look for?

Posted by scoobymax on 13 November 2013 - 09:55 AM

That's not a bad idea at all Afterimage! I currently run a page/group on Facebook so I would already have interest in that sense, maybe I'll test the waters and see what happens?! It would be great to join up with some of you guys on this site but a lot are based in the US of A, and I'm stuck here in miserable rainy old GB!

I agree with all you guys this site is a great resource for learning and sharing tips tricks and general chit chat, I have also been looking around for local camera/photography clubs in this area but all to no avail so far. :( never mind will keep looking, I hope I can find one that doesn't just do show and tell like my four year old at school! It would be nice to find a club that not only share their photos, but also there techniques and how they got them. Fingers crossed.

I would still be very active on this site though as like I said its a great place and I have learnt so much already.... :) :) :) :)

#8271 Who needs image stabilization to avoid camera shake ...

Posted by scoobymax on 11 November 2013 - 07:18 AM

That's a really cool and practical idea, I'm gonna have to try! I do quite a bit of wildlife photography when I can get out, so for me having to not just carry a tripod but trying to set it up and get it ready in time to shoot birds etc, I usually end up with my subject long gone before I'm ready! Thanks for sharing. :)

Here`s a fun image I made up the other night using multiple layer, I called it tennis ball babies!!

Nice work Thumper. :) simple but very effective. I've used layers and masks like this so many times with some great results. Have guys seen some of the shots with say a red london bus or a old postbox all nice and colourful but all the background is B&W? I love those sort of images and done quite a few myself. :)
Ye there are literally thousands of tutorials online for anything Photoshop, Lightroom, Gimp etc, etc. The possibilities are infinite .:)

Yep, once you get the hang of layers and layering different parts of images it gets really fun and interesting. It also enables you to alter different parts of the same image independently from one another to create some great effects. Have a go at layer masking too!

#7004 Fireworks at Disney

Theses are great shots, I have a local, firework display to go to on Tuesday , but the weather here is rubbish, lots of wind and even more rain! So I'm not sure I'll even get any shots at all, if I do they may just be pictures of coloured sparks being blown way across the sky. Lol! :) fingers crossed.
