D7000 Raw+Jpeg

30 September 2014 - 06:09 PM

I have a question that I was wondering if anyone else has any experience with. I recently purchased a D7000. I love this thing and have gotten down most of the features and what not. My question is this. I currently have it set so that the first card captures Raw and the second card captures Jpeg. I do this because I have what is essentially a cam ranger (actually a hacked 3040 wireless modem and dslr dashboard.) and it sends the jpegs to my tablet. I can send the raw files but being as they are large and I don't want to eat all the space up after taking a few pictures I have the jpegs sent.

Problem is I don't want the reviews in camera to show both photos. It may seem stupid but it get's pretty annoying going through what I have shot and having to scroll through both the raw and the jpegs and deleting is just as annoying. Is there a way to set it so that it only shows either one or the other or do you have to review both? Essentially can it just simply use the jpegs as backups without me having to worry about them. If that doesn't make sense let me know and I can try to reword. Thanks in advance.

High Speed Sync

06 December 2013 - 10:00 PM

Ok so I have a question. I am messing more and more with flashes for fill light and what not. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions with a wide aperture and being able to add flash in high sunlight or ambient light situations. I've been reading up on high speed sync but would think there would be a way to run a manual flash faster than 1/200th and still be able to get a fill flash bright enough to make a difference. Everything I've been reading about HSS says you lose a lot of lighting power running HSS but I did read something about using a HSS flash as a trigger and having your slave able to fire at higher power. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Infrared

15 October 2013 - 03:20 PM

Has anyone ever tried replacing the filter to accommodate an infrared filter? If so what was your experience? Easy or not? I am thinking when I upgrade my D80 that I want to turn mine into a dedicated infrared. I know it is better to have a pro do it but I have converted a point and shoot. It was pretty easy and yes I know a DSLR is a whole different ballgame. Just wanted some opinions or feedback on the process or if I should just send it in and have it professionally done. I have fat fingers also which could make it difficult.
