#27573 D7000 Raw+Jpeg

Posted by greenwing on 05 October 2014 - 10:20 AM

Nikonite, I don't think you've understood the OP's problem.

I don't think the 'problem' is with the app, more with the way the camera works. If you have raw+jpeg on one card, you only see one image when reviewing them If you put raw and jpegs on separate cards, you see both when reviewing them. Not that it should make much difference, tbh. NEfs show an embedded jpeg which should be very similar to the jpeg that is shown..

Can you store raw+jpeg on one card and still just save the jpegs over wifi?

Chris

Are you speaking of the display on the camera's LCD?  Is it displaying both automatically when you take a photo or is it showing both when you do a manual review?  I found the automatic display rather annoying where it would display each image after a shot (note - I was shooting JPEG or RAW, not both) so I just turned off the automatic part...If I want to look at an image after I've shot it, I just go find it manually.  Doing that, with one or both formats, I can scroll back manually to find the image I want to check.  Even if I'm shooting in both formats, I only see each image once when I review (this is true for my D7000, D600 and D4)...

That timelapse technique looks very cool.  It really lets you appreciate the eclipse, as long as you can find an appealing foreground ;)

#15084 D610 Giveaway - Winners Announced!

Posted by Adam on 03 February 2014 - 05:25 PM

Well, the time has come for me to announce the winners of our Nikon D610 giveaway!

ccs-1-0-27283600-1381206336_thumb.jpg

Sifting through the thousands of entries was a challenge as well as somewhat of a painful process.  Lots of people submitted invalid entries; some were even bold enough to lie about their post counts or put in gibberish instead of a URL, etc.  We even got a few fake usernames in the mix, which was entertaining.  Rest assured that all cheaters were kept out of the final drawing.  If you cheated, did you really expect us to give you a free $2000 camera without thinking twice?  Nice try!

At the same time I'd like to extend a big "thank you" to those who actively participated in the giveaway and were active on the forum.  I've enjoyed watching the forum grow since its launch in October of last year, and I'm looking forward to lots of fun times in the future!  While we're not going to be following up this giveaway with another one right away, we do have monthly photo contests with prizes if you'd like another challenge!

As promised top raffle ticket holders have all gotten premium account upgrades here on the forum.  Those members are:

  • Merco_61
  • Tony892
  • K-9
  • iNyoni
  • stas

  • jason
  • GregM1
  • LesM

That leaves us with just one order of business: the grand prize winner.  And that winner is forum member Alden.  Congratulations!  Soon, B&H will be sending you a shiny new camera.  I'm sure you'll love it!

#6224 Q&A Thread for D610 Giveaway

Posted by Ignacior on 28 October 2013 - 08:45 PM

I've entered in as many ways as possible and I've really enjoyed becoming a more active member of this site because of it. Winning would be great but the reward of interacting with all the other members has been more than worth it.

Saying that I would like options to get over 35 entries as well :-D

 Well Said.

At the end of the day, this is the point. Im enjoying the time i spend on here and the people. Contest or no Contest, i would still be a member here.

#10901 High Speed Sync

Posted by Merco_61 on 07 December 2013 - 01:49 AM

The trouble with normal sync mode and short shutter speeds is not about power or sync.

A focal plane shutter does never open fully at speeds shorter than x-sync, because the second curtain starts travelling before the first has stopped. That is why HSS mode strobes the flash, and to do that it must reduce output.

Is it not easier to use a ND filter to get to normal sync speed?

Some optical slaves might be able to fire the flash more than once triggered by the HSS strobe, but lighting will be very uneven since some parts will have one and some several flashes.

#3071 You have one D700, what is your other camera?

Posted by onewiththecamera on 08 October 2013 - 03:29 PM

If your goal is a backup camera, like for doing wedding photography, then it would be beneficial for the two cameras to be very similar, especially similar controls. You don't want to miss a shot because of mising an adjustment from confusion. If your goal is to have two cameras with different capabilities then that does not matter so much.
