#55713 Dog Sitting

Posted by Noodles994 on 06 June 2018 - 01:27 AM

Hi all,

First time posting my images on the forums, i spent a day last week looking after this charming lady Buttons so naturally she ended up having a camera in her face, i would have loved to have taken her out into our overgrown garden but unfortunately the weather was against us!  CC is welcome and very much appreciated.

#55083 Garden of the Gods

Posted by sunshine on 18 April 2018 - 08:26 AM

I had a meeting in Colorado Springs yesterday and was able to visit Garden of the Gods park for sunrise. I did regret not taking my tripod, but I packed very light for an overnight trip so I just had the camera and one lens.  Here are a few of the photos I came home with.

And one panorama taken from the visitor center.  I think there's too much sky but just below the frame is a road with lots of traffic.  I should have zoomed in and taken more frames but didn't think of that until after I had left the park...

#55249 Okefenokee

Posted by sunshine on 29 April 2018 - 07:32 PM

I had to spend a week in Orlando for my day job so I went a couple of days early to spend the weekend with my brother in the Jacksonville area.  We went over to Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia for what was supposed to be a sunset tour.  It turned cloudy and rained on us most of the afternoon, but I got a few shots I wanted to share.  Despite the lack of colorful skies, I really enjoyed the ride and would definitely do it again if I'm in that area.  Rain or shine.    :)

This is the "trail" that the boat followed into the swamp.

Our tour guide said that this is a red shouldered hawk.  She's sitting on a nest with several young ones, keeping them dry.  She looks rather miserable.

Cool temperatures and rain meant that most of the alligators were in the water rather than on land.  It's warmer there.

The rain didn't bother the fishing birds.  We saw lots of these.

We only saw one of these.  I believe it is a little blue heron.  I mostly like this shot because he was so far away but the photo came out pretty sharp, even cropped.

Also, maybe I've just missed it, but do you have links to your Facebook or Instagram accounts anywhere on your website? I would check them out too, but I'm not 100 percent sure where to find you. :)

I agree with Merco on Renner's genius, heh. Funny how that font is nearly 100 years old but still feels fresh. Whereas Times New Roman, which is tiny bit younger, definitely lends age anywhere it appears. For some reason, it seems like a font of the 1980s to me. Dunno why... Maybe because word-processing softwares were using it as a default back then? Anyway, that's irrelevant--sorry!

I also agree with Malice that the mouse-over effect may not be super effective. I have it on my website only as a default of the theme I've used, and I really, really dislike it. It's one of the things I most want to change about my site.

I’ve been trying to explore a bit with minimalistic B&W captures.

Here are two captures of wood left-overs in the water, processed while pushing the values to its (useful) extremes.

Been busy with friends down from Alberta.  Had the opportunity to visit the local Arboretum yesterday.  While spring is in the air, it has been a warm and very dry winter, so most likely, little in the way of flowers in the coming weeks.

A few from a trip yesterday to the Haute Fagnes. Cold & foggy.

Fog and light rain have frozen directly on the branches, painting them in white.

I was hoping he'd arrive during the day so I could use a smaller aperture setting to try and get Joar and his team all in focus. Instead he arrived at 3 am with 8 dogs in to Nome. The last 100 yards were pretty well lit but it was pretty much full of people by the time I got down to the finish line. It took him 9 days, 12 hours to finish 1st in the 2018 Iditarod with 8 dogs.
