#17043 D7100 not as sharp as D5100?

Posted by DanielJamesVersace on 05 March 2014 - 06:26 AM

remember what Ken Rockwell has to say about sharpness. It means nothing!

#16339 To prime or not to prime. That is the question?

Posted by DanielJamesVersace on 24 February 2014 - 02:49 AM

I would not be surprised if you can find it with a HN-3 hood for around that sum. The "correct" hood for the 24 is a HN-1, but the HN-3 works better on DX.

A hood on a 24mm, :/ why even bother with a hood. Not even worth using a hood on the 50mm let alone the 35mm, Heck wouldn't even chuck a hood on a 20mm.

I can tell you that the D5100 didn't have it, So i don't believe it would.

#11421 Upgrading to DX (D90 to D610)

Also the D600 Like Ken Rockwell says is practically a D800 Just smaller and better, I understand where he is coming from, any camera with that size Mega Pixels is more then enough.

#11274 How Do You Organize?

Posted by DanielJamesVersace on 11 December 2013 - 02:46 AM

I have an amazing bag i got from a store in Adelaide called Crumple, Awesome all around i use it for daily kind of stuff, really big for my 2 bodies and fits 3 large lenses has awesome dividers i really suggest checking them out.

The Billingham bags are cool but SOOO expensive, the bag i got from crumple is of a water proof type material that is used by the military which is really cool, not as nice looking as Billingham but I think its a huge competitor.

This is the link http://www.crumpler..../cobram-outpost

#10466 To prime or not to prime. That is the question?

Posted by DanielJamesVersace on 01 December 2013 - 06:57 AM

Squibs, when I had a D5100 i started with the kit 18-55 and 70-300 which didn't auto focus so soon taught me and pushed my skills which for now i am grateful.

The first 2 and only 2 lenses i have purchased to date have been the 35 f/1.8G DX and the 50 f/1.4, Using these lenses on your camera will make them an ~52.5mm and a 75mm, these lenses are both beautiful for portraiture photography, I really do advise you grab both these focal lengths, the only issue i ever had with the 70-300 was it never auto focused but you have the best of both worlds you have covered an amazing amount of zoom lengths and having these primes will allow you fantastic speed and usage in low light without a flash.

Dont hesitate your on the right thought pattern with getting these lenses and good luck.

#10351 Upgrading to DX (D90 to D610)

Hey Man, I will give you my experience seeming though I JUST got a D600 and literally a few days after found somebody selling a D3 so have one of them now, (and I know guys I have been absent recently sorry that was exams).

You have to think about price first and foremost, that will decide what you get you can't buy something you can't afford.

second think about what lens you want to put on it, if you want a wide angle for the landscape think about what lens you will need and if it is FX or DX.

I know it is hard but if i were you i would get the D600, it is a beautiful camera no issues so far with it i love it heaps, it has brilliant U1 and U2 settings, and its already a Full Frame camera! so that will remover and "Feelings" you may have in the future to upgrade.

What the major issue as well with the D600 was really was word of mouth, i hear ALOT of people on the internet saying they have this issue, but everyone i know or talk to doesn't, (i work in a camera store).

#8991 Changing Lenses

Wow, a lot to catch up on, hahaha.

Well guys from what we can see here is that we are all different, and to the Original Question and Poster (Tony). As you can see, as long as you look after your gear and don't be silly with it there is no right or wrong way, and we all have different ways of doing things, just pick a way you like and then do it :)

Sportz,

hummm, well I always give my camera a good clean and I pretty much use it every second day cause I take it everywhere with me and never have I personally experience the need to clean it with a swab or anything like that.

I know everyone is diffrent and I definitely can't speak for everyone, But does your lens honestly get that bad a dirty in one month?

#8380 Changing Lenses

Im the Same as K-9 I really only use Primes and a few times I shot with the zoom as it goes in and out it is sucking air and dirt in and out to, no matter what tho guys Just take good care and use your common sense, don't leave the sensor exposed for a long time and try to keep it facing away from anything blowing at you.

I would not use a back pack to, I find them to be a real pain and just a Dust Collector, every time you want to change or get something if your don't have some one you trust or knows what there looking for 90% of the time it means you've got to put your bag on the floor and fiddle around looking for that other lens.

A blower is really all you need to clean a lens, just put it in their give it a few pumps don't use any liquids because when the dry they can just stick more dirt onto your lens and even leave streak marks. If you feel like the lens is getting dirty and you cant clean it, take it to a camera store you've built up a good trust with. You should only have to do this every couple of years unless your shooting in the desert or with the action men.

#8378 Dirt on sensor

Posted by DanielJamesVersace on 11 November 2013 - 06:09 PM

Well Russ how long have you had your camera for? how often do you use it? and lastly do you do much work in dirty, dusty and windy environments   where your changing your lens a lot. If no your not using it in dirty places or what not I wouldn't bother with a Kit especially one with the liquid you don't want to leave streak marks on the sensor.

I personally when I feel like the camera is showing the signs of dirt and the image quality is poor because of that (which is once every couple of years) I just take it to my Camera store, it took me a while to find a good one but Im glad I did, and whilst they clean it the also just check for any other tell tail signs that something isn't right.

Personally, leave the swabs out of it, just enjoy your camera take good care of it and it will treat you well and not require that much Maintenance/servicing.

Thanks.
