Tamron announcing a 150-600mm f5-6.3 VC USD SP lens

07 November 2013 - 01:15 AM

The availability date or price is not yet known, but it'll be interesting to see how it stacks up against Sigma zooms. Especially since those zooms tend to decline in IQ when approaching the 500mm end and Tamron here goes to 600mm.

Hopefully it turns out to be at least equal to those zooms in IQ. More options is always good, isn't it :)

A menacing presence (spider)

10 October 2013 - 02:22 AM

Thought I would try a different approach to usual spider photos and make it a bit more "edgy".

Let me know how you feel about. Shot on a D7100 with the Tamron 70-200.

Nikkor 300mm F4 AF ED

08 October 2013 - 07:53 AM

Hi,

I got a good deal on the mentioned lens and have to say that I am very pleased with the build and image quality of it. I'm using it on a D7100 body and the resolution holds up to the sensor very well.

I've only had it for a couple of days, but initial testing shows promising results. Of course, initial subjects being local cats :) It's lighter and smaller from the DA*300 I'm used to from Pentax, but it doesn't have a motor so that might account for some of the weight and size loss. It's handholdable with sufficient shutter speeds. The AF is slower than an AF-S version of course but gets the job done.
