#7196 Pentax K-3

I bought my first Pentax K3 tonight as my winter camera. I've got yet to test it because the battery is having it's first charge. Anyone else buy this camera? I would like to know what your thoughts are about this camera, pros and cons over the next while. Every comment, suggestion, tip, and short coming would be appreciated and helpful to this new Pentax owner.

#7117 Hello fron Canada

Hello from Alberta, Daniel, also curious how you like the D7100.
I love it, and very impressed with the resalution-detail, color, and low light performance. Thanks for asking.
Do you download your images onto the Nikon Capture NX2 and then take them across to photoshop? Where do you save all your images?
I save all my photos on external back up drives then I bring each into either my imac and process the raw file with NX2 or and or my windows based laptop. Then convert to tiff file and save in a separate folder then the original RAW file on the external hard drive. Then I crop and water mark the tiff photo with photoshop and resave in the same folder. Thanks for asking

#6824 The first D800 thread...
Posted by Daniel on 02 November 2013 - 01:01 PM
I bought bought the D800E shortly after purchasing the D7100 when it was first released. I was blown away by the D7100 with no low pass filter camera by its sharpness and picture quality having moved up from the
D7000. I was into landscape picture taking at the time and wondered what it would be like to have a even bigger camera (mega pixel) without the low pass filter and at full frame for various reasons. So I bought the
D800E for that reason as well as becuase I had seen the video by Nikon "One Camera Two Perspectives" in HD TV quality not the youtube version early this year and was impressed with the camera. I was not
disapointed when I got the D800E. I noticed right away a step up in picture quality not only in area of landscape but in personal portrait shots. Now I have started dabbling into wild life photography and still prefer my
new D800E as my main camera and D7100 as the backup. I don't find the D800E as a slow camera becuase it makes up for it in focus speed. I shoot in single focal point
with focus @ AF-C. Have taken a few pictures of eagles and hawks with it this last summer. I also like the fact that I can set the ISO higher then the d7100 (not worry about ISO noise as much) and the full frame can
also takes in more light and the result is that I can set the shutter at a higher speed on a zoom lens and I need this becuase when I am taking photos of fast moving obects I hand carry either my 150-500mm sigma
lens or 80-400mm Nikon lens. Thanks for reading my thoughts on some reasons I bought the D800E and I love it.

I've had both and never used the 55-200 much. I liked the 55-300 alot and I was impressed with the quality and sharpness of the lens.

#6460 D5300 or D7100?
Posted by Daniel on 30 October 2013 - 01:53 PM
The only thing that the D80 has over the D5300 is the built in focus motor in the body and I think most new lenses don't require you to have a built in focus motor. All AF-S lenses will auto foucus with the D5300. The 5300 has better image quality, higher ISO capabilities. Also the D5300 seems like a fun camera becuase of the built in GPS.
The d7100 can shoot faster then the 5300: 6frames vs 5 frames
D7100 has faster shutter speed: 1/8000 vs 1/4000
The D7100 is weather sealed and the D5300 is not
For these reasons I would go with the D7100
