Files not listed Cannot view files on computer

I have a Nikon LX22 and a computer with Windows XP

 

When I connect the camera to the computer (using a USB cable) the camera is displayed in the list of devices in Windows Explorer and I get (briefly) an icon indicating a connection between the camera and the computer but the the Files (photos) are not listed.  I have done a reset.

 

What could be causing this and how can be remedied please?


SDHC card problem

I have a Nikon Coolpix L22 camera with a 4Gb SDHC memory card.
 
The camera and the computer have long since refused to talk to each other so, in order to transfer files, I have to first transfer the card to a card reader - a bit of pain.
 
I like to keep all images on the card in the camera - although they are copied off to the computer for safe keeping and backing up.  The card is now nearly full so I thought I would get a 8Gb card, transfer all the files and carry on.  However, the camera doesn't recognise the new card returning an error "Memory card contains no images".
 
I've run out of ideas trying to figure out the cause of the problem let alone how to fix it.

Can't read files on SD card

I have a Nikon Coolpix L22.

 

Having found a number of files missing on my original SD card I copied most of them from backup and now have no free space and receiving 'Out of memory'.  Prior to this there was no problem in reading files on the camera.

 

I purchased a larger capacity SD card and transferred the file NIKON001.DSC to the root folder and all files in the folder DCIM (DSCN.0000.jpg in sub folders 100NIKON) to the new SD card.  The files are readable when the new SD card is connected to the computer but not readable when the new SD card is in the camera.  I suspect the file NIKON001.DSC may be the culprit as the last modification is dated in 2012 but it worked OK when using the original SD.

 

How can I get the camera to read DSCN files on the new SD card please?
