There are a number of apps... are you iOS or Android?

Aha!  I hadn't thought about a phone app!  Android it is!

In Topic: Off Brand? Really, Adam.

As it already is, and has always been called "Other Camera Brands", I don't understand. The sticky was badly titled, but Adam has fixed that now.

Then my mission here is done!

Sorry to be a stickler, but we Pentaxians deal with so many of the unknowing - "Pentax!  I didn't know they still existed..." that many of us adopt a perhaps overly defensive attitude. I am catholic in my cameras, as indicated in my initial post to this forum.  I have a Nikonos III with the 35mm and 80mm lenses (Jacques Cousteau calls to me....) and a Nikon S2 with the 21mm Voigtlander, the 35mm Voigtlander, the immortal 50mm 1.4, the 105mm f2.4 and the 135mm.  Plus the Varifocal viewfinder so I can see what I'm shooting!  Oh for a Kontur viewfinder for lenses other than 50mm.

Adam, thank you for the change.  I hope that this Nikon forum will achieve the excellence of your Pentax forum!

Live long, and prosper!

George

No slam against Adam, I am a long time member and fiscal SUPPORTER of PentaxForums.com.  A fine forum, which has a section for Non-Pentax Cameras: Canon, Nikon, etc.  This would be a good way to re-name this section.

In Topic: Question about stress on lens mount

Get one of these and you're fine. I've used one for years.

That's what I've got.  Seems expensive, but far cheaper than a dive to the concrete!

In Topic: Question about stress on lens mount

Just on the Black Rapid in general, I have one and find it generally satisfactory, aside from the occasional mistake in donning it.  Far more secure than slinging the camera over my shoulder, and no pendulum effect common to a neck strap on the neck.  I have BR's Manfrotto QR fitting so I can mount the camera quickly.  I am told that the standard Manfrotto QR's loop, while fine for tightening the plate to the camera, is NOT suited for carrying the weight of a camera and lens.
