#45658 Glencoe &Glen Etive

Posted by iNYONi on 30 January 2017 - 01:39 PM

Hay Alden, unfortunately our gun laws are rather strict here in Scotland, if your out and about with a shotgun, your more than likely to be arrested. Of course there are organised grouse shooting events and such but it's a no no out on your own, unless your the land owner or your a games keeper.

It's a stunning part of Scotland, The Glencoe massacre happened on 13th February 1692, when the clan MacDonald were hunted down in the glen and killed.

Color Infrared: Orange filter to block blue, blue channel gets IR only. Equalize Blue channel to red and green, swap blue and red channel. Using FORTRAN.

For the Math Geeks.

values from each 2x2 pixel of the Bayer call converted to a complex number and used as input for the Mandelbrot equation. FORTRAN code that was mostly written over 30 years ago, modified to read DNG files.

This is data lost from the compression scheme used by the Leica M8.

Camera set to a "RAW" mode using a hidden command, then ran the true-raw data through the compression algorithm. Subtract the two, boost the remainder-

And why I never use lossy compression. Same FORTRAN code, different subroutine.

Today felt like spring, even if it is only January.

This lens has always been a favourite, even if the later ED version is less prone to flare and the AF version is much more convenient. This could be because it was the first pro-calibre Nikkor I bought or it could be because of it's character, I don't know which.

#45376 what best image photo sharing site that does not cost a lot

Posted by Thumper on 23 January 2017 - 07:59 AM

I use Smugmug as well. I actually learned about it from a mutual friend that Thumper and I have. It's great. You have full control of everything, no ads or dross, good quality, fast uploading times, and it's not expensive at all for a basic account.

I learned about Smugmug from Randy also.   (I have actually learned a lot about photography from Randy).

I use Smugmug.   I like that you can personalize your subdomain with Smugmug.   I also manage my galleries, albums, permissions/access, watermarks, etc from there.

This week was not very photographic.  I got out one evening in an office park for a few shots of artwork displayed there, and went to a boat show with the family.  Here's one of my granddaughter on one of the boats.

#45298 Opinions on the Nikon DF with 50mm 1.8G lens

Do you actually have to use the dials on the Df or can you use the aperture ring on your lenses to set aperture and the top shutter speed dial for that?

Dean, I shot some discgolf a couple of years ago, only those lunatics played at night in the Swedish winter... http://petersundsted..._141218_180547_

I went to a Disk Golf tournament today in a local neighborhood.  Never seen the game before, quite interesting.  Teams seemed to be co-ed with varying age groups.  I followed a team from Finland.  I found the participants to be easy to talk to and more than willing to explain the game to me.  It is quite windy today so their expertise and aim is being taxed, but as one Finlander said, it makes it challenging.  Good spirit.  This one competitor is quite acrobatic, making him fun to shoot.

I used my D750 with my new Tamron 70-200 f2.8  I think it will work out well.

#45289 Opinions on the Nikon DF with 50mm 1.8G lens

It does approximately the same as the secondary command dial on a D7xxx or D6xx, which means that it depends on the mode you are in exactly what it does.

For example, if you want to set the shutter speed in 1/3 increments in manual with a G lens, you set the speed dial to 1/3 and use the primary command dial for shutter speeds and the secondary command dial for aperture

For me, the dial doesn't stick out as much as I would like and it is a couple of millimeters too low on the body to be really comfortable. It simply isn't where my finger falls naturally when I want to use it.

If you get the Df, you will probably want to explore the wonderful world of Nikkors manufactured between 1959 and 1976 as so many of them are cheap to buy as they need to be modified to be used on the D7xxx and Dxxx bodies but they will mount and meter on the Df.
