#75100 Chromaic aberration

Posted by Adam on 05 September 2021 - 05:47 PM

A few things to try:

1. Ensure the focus is accurate

2. Stop down by an extra stop or two

3. Reduce the exposure slightly

As this looks like a pretty tight crop, the whole image may not be quite as bad as it may appear.  Software should be able to fix most of the aberrations for you.

#74894 Why does my full frame crop so much of the frame?

Posted by Adam on 23 August 2021 - 02:35 AM

Are you using an APS-C ("DX") lens?  If so, the camera will by default crop the image so that it doesn't captures areas not covered by the lens.

Swapping to an FX lens would solve this issue.

#74091 How to: Gaining Free Access to Blogs & Classifieds

Posted by Adam on 03 July 2021 - 05:08 PM

Due to increased pressure from spammers, we will now require users who wish to start a blog or post in the classifieds to first manually request access.

To do so, please shoot me a PM or contact us.

This does not apply to users who have made a donation.  Also, if you've already made a blog, you should be able to continue posting.

In the future, we will be making this an automated process.  For now, thanks in advance for understanding!

#74090 Aperture Priority D3200

Posted by Adam on 03 July 2021 - 04:40 PM

(I've moved your thread to the Q&A forum).

Since the camera thinks it needs more light, it would need to push the ISO even higher, which is outside of the auto ISO range.  That's why it is opting for the aperture instead.

Assuming there is sufficient light, to get what you want, you'd otherwise need to be in manual mode with auto ISO.

#73822 My D5600 has crashed while updating the firmware

The camera may unfortunately be bricked.  You may need to send it to a service center.

#73523 Problem viewing images

Posted by Adam on 15 May 2021 - 10:24 PM

Very frustrating… this problem requires some attention from the site operator.

I spoke today with internet guru friends of mine. They looked into my end of it
but found nothing that could explain this situation.

I see your photos are being served over HTTP rather than HTTPS.  Modern browsers are now outright blocking mixed content requests (such as HTTP images embedded on a page that otherwise uses HTTPS, which applies to most websites including this one). You will need to work with your host to enable HTTPS support, which is trivial to do and shouldn't involve any costs.

As an alternative, you could simply share links rather than embedding your photos, but this will make for a worse user experience of course.

#67879 Small circle appearing in nearly every of my photos...

Posted by Adam on 17 May 2020 - 07:24 PM

It looks like there could be a piece of hair on your sensor (not the mirror).  I'd recommend cleaning the sensor, first with a manual air blower (such as this one), and later with a physical cleaning kit, if needed.

#64763 distance sensor on D3400?

Posted by Adam on 09 October 2019 - 08:29 PM

I don't believe there's a way to do it precisely, but you should be able to get a ballpark estimate by looking at the focusing scale on your lens.  Some more basic lenses don't have one, though.

#64325 COUNTERFEIT D5/D4/D4S BATTERY DETECTED?

Posted by Adam on 14 September 2019 - 03:35 PM

It doesn't look too suspicious to me.  The best way to confirm would be to use it.  If it delivers the battery life you expect, then it should be genuine :)

#63158 International Model - What?

Posted by Adam on 04 July 2019 - 07:06 AM

It just means that the product was originally intended to be sold in a different region (the camera itself is the same).  Buying international (aka grey market products) is usually slightly cheaper, but you get no warranty from the manufacturer.
