Sometime before midnight (whatever time zone you are in) this Sunday, 18 March 2018, post the best photo you have taken this week. Any subject, any style—just give us your best shot.

If you can, list your EXIF info and any special lighting setups you may have used.

P.S. Peter is running a fun single-lens challenge--everyone is welcome to play. Just look for the One Week, One Camera, One Lens thread in the mini-challenge forums.

P.P.S. The editing exercises are taking a break at the moment, but feel free to play around in the old exercises.

Just a "happy snap" of Daven and Lexie, two of my Grandkids visiting us a couple of days ago.

Nikon Coolpix B700

Shot at around 4m range with on-camera flash

Focal length 17mm

shutter speed 1/60

Aperture F4.8

Post work: Croppping and red-eye removal in Microsoft picture manager. (For some reason MS gave a better result than Photoshop Elements this time.)

I was hoping he'd arrive during the day so I could use a smaller aperture setting to try and get Joar and his team all in focus. Instead he arrived at 3 am with 8 dogs in to Nome. The last 100 yards were pretty well lit but it was pretty much full of people by the time I got down to the finish line. It took him 9 days, 12 hours to finish 1st in the 2018 Iditarod with 8 dogs.

Great shots under what must have been pretty extreme conditions.

A few from a trip yesterday to the Haute Fagnes. Cold & foggy.

Fog and light rain have frozen directly on the branches, painting them in white.

Been busy with friends down from Alberta.  Had the opportunity to visit the local Arboretum yesterday.  While spring is in the air, it has been a warm and very dry winter, so most likely, little in the way of flowers in the coming weeks.

2) 1/250 @ f7.1, 70 mm, sio 100

We have had an unusual amount of cold in March for the area.  We even had a few days with accumulating snow or snow flurries.  I brought the camera out for one of those just to get a "see it really did snow here in mid March"...(D4, 24-70, f5.6, 1/200, ISO 400)

SnowOrchid-2521.jpg

Then my wife pointed out a bird, so I grabbed the D500 with the 70-200 on it...Both at ISO 400, f2.8, 1/250

They are certainly not the best shots ever, but considering I was shooting through a screen and hand holding in the cold, I was pretty happy with the way they came out!
