I am requesting recommendations for my D3400.  I am thinking about purchasing a 300mm zoom. I would like to pros/cons on AF-S 55-300mm vs AF-P 70-300mm. Thanks!

Hi, I hope I’m acing to your query and not hijacking it as I have almost the same question! I have a D7000 and want to extend my available zoom to 300mm. Reviews of the 55-300mm VR lens seems pretty straight forward, but there seem to be a mix of 70-300mm VR and I can’t seem to find my way through to compare with the 55-300mm! If anyone can shed any light on this it would be appreciated and hopefully help the OP too!

Cotatom, the only thing I might suggest to you as a consideration is what your current lens range is. If you only have an 18-55 kit lens, you might want to opt for the 55-300mm so you don’t leave a gap in your range. I’ve recently upgraded to an 18-135mm and so this is no longer an issue for me...
