I've got a D600 with almost 235,000 clicks on it and am wondering if I should be considering a pre-emptive shutter replacement?  I've not had any problems with it, but planning a trip to Costa Rica at the end of the year and want to have a reliable second body in my bag.

Any thoughts and/or actual experience with shutter failure on the D600 welcome.

Why not use it quite a bit now to get the most out of the old shutter and then schedule a replacement in good time for the trip. It could be worn enough to warrant a replacement now, but it could easily run 100000 more if it is a good unit.

Well, according to the camera database, the shutter should give you 150K actuations and it looks like you are well past that...

I think Peter had a good suggestion...use it as much as you can then send it for replacement with enough time to get it back and tested before the trip.  Of course, if it is going to be a second body, maybe you roll the dice...
