Hello all

Im pretty new in this DSLR world and therefore it seems like a jungle to understand what is better then something else. But I love to take pictures and do the job to get it.

Currently I have a Fujii x10 which I am quiet happy for. It takes excellent photos but what im lacking is (1) EASIER bookeh effect on close up and (2) to take more pictures in a second. To use the Manual Focus (MF) I have to look at the LCD screen to see how far the focus point is from my position (0-10m) and thereafter hope that my object is still in that position. If it moved, I have to move with it x meters. If it the sun is shining I cant really see what is happening on the screen.

So the result is that I am using MF when objects are at the same spot and AF when the object is moving. And when im taking pictures of my kid, well... hopefully I get that one look right because if not I have to try again 1 second later.

I have been looking at different kind of Nikon cameras and I cant really figure out if I should go for a FX or DX camera. Mostly people say Full-Frames are better, but will I notice? I think I ended up with one of these two:

1) Nikon d5300/d5600 with AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G

2) Nikon D600 with either:

(1) Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G or
(2) Nikon AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D

I tried to compare them: Nikon D600 vs Nikon D5300 Detailed Comparison and tried to look at the different lenses: Dxomark.dk

I know its a matter of personal opinion and you cant choose for me. But could you guys by any chance give me some pros/cons on choosing those camera?

Is it worth it to choose a FX camera (850 g) from 2012 without wifi but it obviosly has a beter overall score? Or should I choose the DX camera (480 g - 370g less) with wifi and rotateable lcd screen? I dont even know if I would ever use the WIFI and rotateable LCD screen.

Or should i go for the d5600 instead of the d5300? Will the lighter D5300/d5600 be worth it? Or doesnt it matter when you have a DSLR camera?

They all have similar AF performance. The D600 has better dynamic range and S/N ratio going for it, as well as the *much* better finder and ergonomics. Make sure that the D600 has the redesigned shutter that doesn't splatter oil on the sensor. I am not sure if the recall is still active after all this time and if it follows the camera or the original owner.

The bigger sensor will definitely help in achieving more background blur, to the degree that you will sometimes have to close down the aperture to get a bigger depth of field. The difference in magnification for the two sizes makes for about one stop in aperture to equalize. If you like and use a narrow DOF a lot, the D600 will give you things that the DX bodies can't. If you, however, shoot macros, the DX option will have you going for a focus stack slightly less often.

A wide angle will give a wider field of view on FX while a tele will give a narrower FOV on DX. Which is more desirable depends on what you like to shoot.
