Lens: Pentax-DA 18~55mm AL Lens Camera: Pentax k-50 Photo Location: Sherwood Forest. ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/30s Aperture: F5.6

Focal Length 55mm, Manual Exposure Mode, No flash and used CWA Metering.

I say a tough day at shooting and this image is why. I had a lot of difficulty getting this red tamed down to make it acceptable to display. I am really not exactly in love with it, but suffice it to say I did my best even in the presets and PPE. Red can be a tough nut to crack sometimes. To make matters even worse, this flower was absolutely beautiful, and I was unable to capture all that beauty.

Thanks for viewing.

Tony, do you shoot a bracketed series or do you just take one shot and try to tame the exposure in post?

If you shoot in raw and make a series 1/3 steps apart from at least -2 to +1 relative to the metered exposure, getting a nicely balanced final result should be doable using the raw editors that Pentax and Nikon supply. Capture NX-D is a free download and handles the D200 files beautifully. I haven't used Silkypix Developer Studio or Digital Camera Utility 5 on windows, so I can't say anything about how they work, but they should do so.

Hello Peter,

First let me apologize for taking so long to get back to you.  I just now received notice of your post.  I actually take as many as four or five shots of the same subject from different angles and exposure settings.  I typically use the Manual Mode exclusively, but on rare occasion will try Auto Mode. I do have both Silkypix and Capture NX-D and need to get busy and learn them.  There is also a highly rated:  Photo Editor PT 4 and Polarr all supposedly free.  Many thanks and again, sorry for the late reply as I was not ignoring you.

Rgds,  Tony
