NIkon J1 HELP PLEASE

I am using my new J1 in manual mode. My problem is that the exposure indicator on the right hand side of the monitor is not working. Is there a setting I may have missed?

No matter what setting i try, or change the exposure and f stop, the indicator will not move or show me if my exposure is good

Any help would be appreciated
