I'm experiencing a problem in which, sometimes, my D7100 will not fire. The viewfinder image "jumps" a couple of times, and then the shutter will not work. This does not appear to be related to autofocus, and turning the camera off, then on again doesn't always fix the issue.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is it time for a repair shop?

I'd try a reset, and if that didn't work, I think I'd give Nikon a call.
