Hello

New member technical question here

I use a D610 (with the latest firmware) & have 2 AF D lenses. An AF NIkkor 80-200mm 1:2.8D  & an AF-S Nikkor  28-70mm 1:2.8D.  When I switch the camera on I have control over the Aperture & Shutter time with the front & back control wheels.  If I take a picture I then don't have any control over the Aperture & Shutter time after I have taken the picture.  If I switch the camera off & on again control returns.   I also have an AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR & using this lens with the D610 body I don't experience this issue.

If I use the AF D lenses on my F5 film body they work perfectly OK & don't have this issue.

The question is do I have something set in my 610 body that is causing this or is this another issue ?

I would be tempted to start by cleaning contacts on the lenses / body just to be sure...you could certainly do a reset on the D610 to see if there was some setting out there causing the issue...perhaps you accidentally switched modes?  how many actuations on the shutter?

Just talking out loud trying to think of possible areas to check...

Thanks for the suggestions I will give them a try tomorrow.   I suspect there is no issue with the contacts because the 610 body works fine with other lenses, & the AF D lenses work fine with my F5 body, but worth a try.  I will reset the body too.  Shutter actuations around 20k

I reset the custom menu functions & that seems to have sorted it out.  Not sure I had anything set apart from back button focusing, but I suppose I must have had...  Thanks for the advice.

Glad you got it sorted out...Back Button Focus should not cause those issues so there must have been some other setting in there...

Yes, I agree.  I've no idea what it was though.  I had spent quite a bit of time going through the custom setting to try to find it.....   All is well now so no point in dwelling on it too much.
