Though I'm just joining the forum today I got my first DSLR (a D5600) last summer, and I just started my first ever photography class. While I am reasonably confident with regard to my sense of composition and esthetics, I do need to come up to speed on the technical aspects of the art, in particular choosing and using the right settings for current shooting conditions and the results I want.

As you want to develop a feel for what aperture, shutter speed and ISO to use in certain situations, it might be worth your while to read the Your best... threads in the Minichallenges... subforum. Most of us share how we have made our best work for the week and not only a photo.
