Hi there,

My Name is Ross, normally called Rossco and my forum ID is GrenadaV.

I new to Nikon and certainly to the D810 I am about to purchase, as my current camera is a Canon 1100D. You and several others may ask, why not go for something in between the 1100D and D810?

The very simple answer for me is that while I am still very much a beginner, I don't want to have to buy another 3 or 4 camera's, only to lead to the one I am getting now. Don't see why I need to waste the extra money on those camera's.

You could also ask, why spend so much on a camera if you still have so much to learn, well I believe in learning with the best and most capable camera you can afford at the time, plus have/use a camera that does what you want in my case, Astro and landscape / panoramic photography, without being held back by a basic NO CAN Do camera.

Anyway, that's me and I will be hanging around learning from you pro's out there.

Cheers

Rossco

Welcome to the forums, Ross!

One thing to remember when you go for the pro bodies is that they don't have the modes that can be so helpful starting out as you can use a scene mode or a special effect mode to learn a good starting point for an unfamiliar situation. The scene modes are available up to the D750, but not on the D500, D8x0 or Dx.

Edit: Dx as in the single-digit line of bodies... D1, D2, D3, D4 and D5.
